If
you’re new to Royal Oak, or just looking for a new dentist, Dr. Steve
Gustafson and his wife and partner Dr. Shari Morningstar believe they
offer several reasons to visit their office.
“Probably
the most important thing is that people feel we listen to their needs and
concerns,” says Dr. Shari. “And we try to work with those concerns – be they
fear or monetary.”
Much of
their business comes from referrals and that says a lot about how they treat
their patients.
“We try to
offer a more relaxing experience,” Dr. Shari says. “We develop relationships
with our patients and work with them to take an active role in their dental
health.”
Along with
the typical dental services your would expect from dentist, they also specialize
in cosmetic procedures that are virtually pain-free. They also have extensive
training in working with TMJ and dental implants.
In this day
and age of full and busy lives, Dr. Steve and Dr. Shari pride themselves on
being available for their patients when their patients need them. Their office
hours are from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday through Wednesday and from 7:30 a.m.
to 5 p.m. on Thursday. This makes getting to the dentist before or after work
more convenient, Dr. Steve says.
And if
there’s ever an emergency, they can be reached 24 hours a day, seven days a week
through a special 1-800 phone number.
Dr.s Steve
and Shari have been in business for years and have a loyal clientele. In fact,
many families starting coming to their office when it was run by their father.
And now, they see second and third generation patients. But Dr. Steve says that
many people don’t know that they always accept new patients.
“We may be
established, but our practice is always growing,” he says.
And they
spend a lot of time making sure they grow professionally as well. Through
on-going and extensive training they are always learning new, pain-free
techniques to make a patient’s visit more comfortable and productive.
“We also
tailor our treatment and pace to a patient’s needs,” says Dr. Steve. “If a
patient’s tolerance level is low, we’ll do the work over several visits instead
of one long, intense visit. We’ll do whatever it takes to make our patients
comfortable.”
Because
they believe in giving back, Dr. Steve and Dr. Shari are also very involved in
the community and many youth-oriented activities. The Salvation Army, Royal Oak
Optimist Club, the Boys & Girls Club of Royal Oak and the Boy Scouts are just a
few of the organizations they donate their time to. They also give presentations
to local kindergarten classes on the importance of dental health and participate
every year in the Royal Oak Neighborhood Schools Career Choices Fair.
“We believe
in community service,” Dr. Steve says. “We not only get to know and care about
the people in Royal Oak and surrounding areas, but we get a chance to give
something back.”
